Firefighters enjoy immense popularity as much for their daily acts to safeguard life and property as for their civic and social activities. The numbers are eloquent: 653,000 annual incidents in Los Angeles (USA), 625,000 in Hong Kong (Asia), 426,000 in Paris (Europe), 180,000 in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil)… Since the terrible tragedy of September 11, 2001 in America, the world community of firefighters has never before been as mobilized nor felt such solidarity. This work, a unique concept, is a collection of the most moving images realized during a period of over 10 years by former Paris firefighter, Christophe Dubois, now a photojournalist. These documents are dedicated to men and women, whether military, civil, professional or volunteer, who under all circumstances, without regard to race or religion, bring aid to others, sometimes risking their own lives.
